A Ferrari Roma GTS Would Look So Much Better Than The Portofino Spider

The Ferrari Roma truly is unlike any other modern model from Maranello before it and as this rendering shows, looks even better than the Portofino in Spider guise.

The Roma could be considered as a Coupe variant of the Portofino although the Maranello carmaker certainly hasn’t promoted the car as such. Nevertheless, the presence of a familiar twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine pumping out 612 hp and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) indicates that it certainly does share some DNA with the company’s entry-level convertible.

There are some major differences, however. On the mechanical front, the Roma uses the same eight-speed dual-clutch transmission as the all-conquering SF90 Stradale and has distinctive styling both inside and out.

Eager to see how the look and shape of the Roma would translate into an EV, designer X-Tomi Design created the car you see pictured. We happen to think it looks fantastic.

The edgy and curvaceous shape of the Roma lends itself very well to a removable roof. We particularly like how the low-slung headlights exaggerate the shape and profile of the front wheel arches and how a smooth bodyline stretches back from the arches, along the doors, and right to the rear haunches.

In Coupe form, the Ferrari Roma tips the scales at 1,472 kg (3,245 lbs) and will sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a respectable 3.4 seconds, hit 124 mph (200 km/h) in 9.3 seconds and exceed 199 mph (320 km/h). If Ferrari ever decided to make a Roma Spider, it would likely be a touch heavier and not quite accelerative. However, we doubt such a car will ever see the light of day.
